AMBA offers new Affiliate membership category

The American Malting Barley Association (AMBA), a trade organization representing end users of malting barley including maltsters, brewers, and distillers, has expanded its membership offering in order to encourage additional investment in barley research. The new Affiliate membership category supports inclusion of organizations and businesses outside the existing membership framework.

Any entity that wants to invest in barley improvement and development as guided by the AMBA strategic plan is welcome to become an Affiliate member. Potential members could include, but are not limited to: other relevant trade associations, allied supporting businesses, or educational institutions. Affiliate members choose their funding designation, whether it be to support a specific research project or program, or invest in educational opportunities offered by AMBA. Membership benefits also include priority access to sponsorship and advertisement opportunities to support events, webinars, and member communication.

Similar partnerships with AMBA have occurred informally in the past as groups have wanted to further support AMBA’s mission. Scott Graham, executive director of the Michigan Brewers Guild, has long been a supporter of barley and is passionate about bringing more production locally to the Great Beer State. For several years, his organization has made an annual contribution to AMBA to bolster their investment into the Michigan State University barley research program. Through this new membership category, the hope is additional partnerships like this one will grow.
