Agricultural groups applaud Ibach nomination for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Under Secretary

The American Malting Barley Association, National Barley Improvement Committee, and National Barley Growers Association join 140 other agricultural trade organizations in supporting the nomination of Greg Ibach to be the next Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs at the USDA. This nomination comes at a pivotal time when farmers, grain handlers, and exporters are facing economic headwinds and uncertainty. Ibach, a farmer himself, possesses a unique understanding of how USDA programs and policies impact producers at the farm gate and food processing businesses.

A letter, sent to Agricultural Committee Chair Senator John Boozman and Ranking Member Senator Klobuchar, implores the Senate to act swiftly on the nomination in order to take advantage of emerging trade opportunities that could bring relief to American farms and rural communities. In addition to farming in Nebraska, Mr. Ibach gained experience in trade policy during the first Trump administration, serving as the former Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs. He was also the longest serving Director of Agriculture in Nebraska, playing a critical role in promoting trade and agricultural exports.
