The American Malting Barley Association, along with several other groups representing agriculture, food, and beverage, sent a letter to President Biden and President-elect Trump directing their attention towards the severe supply chain disruptions as a result of the East and Gulf Coast Port strikes from early October 2024. Although the strike was short in duration, it shuttered operations in advance of the strike and the impact was felt much longer even after the strike was concluded. The letter urges cooperation with the International Longshoremen's Association and the United States Maritime Alliance to commit to negotiating a new contract and coming to a resolution well in advance of January 15, 2024, when the contract is set to expire.
