Limagrain Cereal Seeds joins the American Malting Barley Association as an Affiliate Member

The American Malting Barley Association (AMBA) welcomes Limagrain Cereal Seeds (LCS) as an Affiliate member. LCS is a farmer-owned and farmer-run international agricultural cooperative with U.S. operations headquartered in Colorado, focusing on improved wheat and barley genetics. Several LCS barley lines are included on the AMBA approved variety list including LCS Genie, LCS Odyssey, and LCS Violetta. Genie and Odyssey have both gained favor for carrying the GN0 trait that makes them desirable for distillers.

In 2024, AMBA launched the new Affiliate membership category to encourage additional investment in barley research by supporting inclusion of organizations and businesses outside the existing membership framework, which was previously only open to malt producers and users. Affiliate members have the ability to designate the recipient of their investment whether it be an AMBA supported research project, program, or event.

Grant Groene, National Sales and Marketing Manager for LCS, sought an Affiliate membership with AMBA to further invest in the barley improvement efforts the Association focuses on. Long a partner with Land Grant universities, Groene recognizes the great work done by the public researchers AMBA supports and wants to further that mission.

AMBA is very excited to welcome Limagrain Cereal Seeds to our membership base. Their participation and investment furthers our mission to encourage and support production of an adequate supply of high quality malting barley for our various end-user members. This is accomplished by building a network of engaged barley interests so that the best available research informs the development and production of the U.S. malting barley crop.
