The American Malting Barley Association, along with the National Barley Improvement Committee, and 50+ other agricultural organizations have signed onto the recent letter sent to Congress by the Crop Insurance Coalition, indicating support for strong crop insurance programs that mitigate risk and bolster on-farm success. The letter, addressed to members in Congress representing the relevant Budget, Appropriations, and Agricultural committees, respectfully urges Members "to protect crop insurance from harmful cuts that would undermine American’s farmers and ranchers and rural economies." In addition, the National Barley Improvement Committee has joined several other agricultural groups in a letter of support "to substantially increase investment in USDA’s programs and strongly urge...respective committees to increase 302(b) allocations for the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittees." The letter, addressed to relevant members of Congress on Budget and Appropriation committees, expresses the importance of agriculture research and development investment in order sustain our vibrant agricultural economy.
