Bio: Dr. Yin Li, Data Science and Innovation Director, is leading Research, Innovation, and Machine Learning at Malteurop North America. With a Ph.D. in Fermentation Engineering, he has dedicated over 10 years to Malteurop, assuming roles in quality, technical expertise, and research and development. His extensive contributions to the malting and brewing industry are reflected in the publication of more than 50 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals, alongside the authorship of a book on malting and two global patents in malting technology. He augmented his proficiency in AI by accomplishing 10 global certificates in Data Science and Machine Learning from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining Malteurop, he served as a Research Professor at North Dakota State University, overseeing the barley quality and malting research program. Dr. Li's exceptional contributions to the cereal industry were recognized with the 2007 AACC (American Association of Cereal Chemists) International Young Scientist Award. He actively participates as a member of the editorial board for esteemed journals like the Journal of the American Society of Brewing Chemists (ASBC), The Master Brewers Association of the Americas (MBAA), and the Journal of the Institute of Brewing (IoB).
Dr. Federico Casale | Data Scientist | Computomics
Presentation: Utilizing xSeedScore to efficiently advance malting barley populations
Bio: Federico Casale is a Data Scientist with extensive experience in barley genetics. He holds a B.S. in Agronomy from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), a M.S. from the University of Illinois (USA), and a Ph.D. in Quantitative Genetics from the University of Düsseldorf (Germany). During his doctoral studies, Federico focused on innovative methods to manipulate recombination rates in barley breeding programs. At Computomics ® , he leverages machine learning (ML) to help plant breeding companies achieve their goals through the advanced xSeedScore ® platform.
