GUIDELINES FOR MALTING BARLEY BREEDERS

These guidelines provide malting barley breeders with targets for use in developing new balrey lines.  Some analytical parameters are listed as ideal minimums or maximums, and others as ranges.  There is no one ideal malting barley variety for the end user.  The industry utilizes a number of difffernet varieties to meet the speicfications of an end user or end product.   Because environmental conditions impact malting quality parameters, breeders are encouraged to plant appropriate check varieties in allof their evaluation nurseries.  AMBA can be contacted for a curret list of appropriate check varieties.
